News: Thomson Holidays add flights to Croatia

Thomson Holidays has recently announced new weekly flights to Croatia's 'Istrian Peninsula' - an area currently being described as the ' hottest' tourist destination for 2005, direct from Bournemouth Airport.
Ideally positioned at the top of the Adriatic, opposite Venice, the peninsula offers a tempting alternative to the more main stream holiday destinations.
There is plenty of evidence of Roman occupation and Italian influence - from the magnificent Roman amphitheatre in Pula to the venetian-style Renaissance buildings that line the resort of Rovinj.
The Croatian coastline offers a variety of resorts, which lie directly on the clear, sparkling waters of the Adriatic with countless small bays and secluded inlets. Porec is well known for its small fishing village, characteristic houses and stone-paved streets, which bustle with cafes, street entertainers.
There is also the fantastic resort of Rovinj – a picturesque town with narrow, cobbled streets, which boosts fantastic sporting facilities including tennis, water sports and fantastic sight-seeing opportunities, offering the chance to see more of this exciting and interesting peninsula. If you prefer to visit a resort centred on a beautiful old village and harbour with wonderful clear seas and hideaway inlets then Rabac is the resort for you.
Commenting on the new destination, Sally Windsor – General Manager - Marketing and Communications explained that:
“The airport is delighted that Thomson has added a further destination, one of the Med’s new exciting hot spots direct from Bournemouth. We now offer an even wider choice of destinations from the local airport this summer than ever before”.
Flights depart from Bournemouth to Pula every Tuesday between May and October 2005.
