Emirates has announced that it will boost seats for its Glasgow to Dubai route due to increasing popularity for the daily service.
The route has been operating for less than a year with the airline now planning to increase seat capacity by more than 50 per cent due to increasing demand from Scottish travellers.
An increase to the route will come into effect from October 1st this year, when Emirates will start operating a Boeing 777-200 aircraft offering 68 more seats. A Boeing 777-300 will be added to the route later that month bringing an increase of 149 seats per day.
The route currently carries about 150,000 passengers a year, with a capacity of 278 per day.
"Emirates has been a real success story at Glasgow airport, not just in terms of passenger numbers, but in an economic sense too," said Stephen Baxter, managing director of Glasgow airport.
"Emirates SkyCargo offers businesses from across Scotland direct access to the markets of the Gulf region and beyond. This expansion represents a major economic boost for Scottish exporters."
