Ryanair launched three new services yesterday from the Scottish airport at Prestwick to Hamburg, Pisa and Murcia.
The launch was heralded as a "big day" for the budget airline as this was
the first time that it has launched three routes on the same day. The airline
also
added a new aircraft to the Ryanair fleet based at Glasgow Prestwick.
Ryanair's
Scotland and UK regional sales manager, Cathy Timlin said:
"We are
delighted to be adding a fifth aircraft to our Prestwick base, a brand-new
Boeing 737-800 which carries special VisitScotland livery. The three new
routes have been a massive hit with over 80,000 bookings recorded to date."
Airport managing director Steven Fitzgerald welcomed the added routes to
the airport. He told the Press and Journal: "These exciting new routes are
great news for Glasgow Prestwick Airport and for employment, tourism and economic
growth in
the area."
