News: JSA continuation welcomed by BA, Qantas

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) today gave approval to the continuation of the joint service agreement (JSA) between British Airways and Qantas for a further five years.
The decision comes after an exhaustive 21-month investigation by the ACCC, which culminated in a final hearing in December last year at which Virgin Atlantic claimed the JSA was anti-competitive. Despite the objections, the ACCC confirmed its draft findings that the JSA was pro-competitive.
Upon hearing the verdict, British Airways director of alliances Roger Maynard said: “The JSA on the kangaroo routes has been in place for 10 years and we have always said it is pro-consumer and pro-choice.
