Australian airline Qantas has announced that it will be adding an additional flight to Sydney from London.
Qantas already has a number of flights to Australia from London airports, with stopovers in Singapore and Hong Kong towards Sydney and Melbourne. The new flight has a stop over in Hong Kong and will increase the number of weekly services to 28.
The new flight will commence from November 13th 2005.
"This announcement is further confirmation of Qantas' commitment to Australia as a tourism destination," said Scott Morrison, managing director of Tourism Australia.
"There is a strong affinity between Australia and the UK, and Tourism Australia's activities in the market aim to ensure we continue to convert this interest into actual ticket bookings and more people spending their holiday dollar here in Australia."
The airline has also announced that it plans to introduce daily flights to Australia by April next year. British inbound travellers currently account for 15 per cent of arrivals down-under.
