British Airways' (BA) new summer schedule will see more frequent flights to Shanghai, Greece, Malta and Malaga as just some of its extended services to passengers.

The airline announced thirteen new European services for summer, which will bring its total of daily flights between UK and Europe to an average of 631 and an average of 179 intercontinental flights a day.

Changes to schedules include a new five times a week service from London Heathrow to Shanghai, new services from London Gatwick to Greece, Croatia, Lithuania, Romania and Bulgaria and two new services to Milan and Zurich from Bristol.

British Airways' franchise partner GB Airways will also start new services this summer including ones from London Gatwick to Crete and flights from Manchester to Malaga, Dubrovnik, Malta, Paphos and Tenerife.

Director of commercial planning for BA, Robert Boyle, said: "This summer, our network capacity will increase by three per cent compared to summer 2004 and focuses on exploiting opportunities for profitable growth."

"British Airways operates more flights into Europe than any other carrier."
