News: Edinburgh Airport set for Busiest Easter

Thousands of Scots are expected to take to the skies on flights from Edinburgh later this week as the great Easter getaway begins.

With several new routes being launched just in time for Easter, bosses at Edinburgh Airport are preparing for a mass exodus of passengers. Over 107, 000 passengers are expected to use flights from Edinburgh Airport over the five day holiday period, from Thursday 24 March to Monday 28 March.

Thursday 24 March is predicted to be the busiest day with over 24,000 passengers expected. Flights to the European short break cities of Amsterdam, Dublin and Paris and are amongst the most popular choices for air travellers using Edinburgh Airport. Holidays in Palma, Mallorca are the most popular choice of sunseekers taking flights from Edinburgh. Among the new flights due to be introduced in time for Easter is the flybe route to Liverpool, which complements the flights the airline recently started offering to and from Norwich. Flybe is now one of Edinburgh Airport’s largest airlines offering 700,000 seats out of the Capital annually to a range of UK domestic cities, including Belfast (City), Birmingham, Southampton and Exeter.
