Management at Liverpool John Lennon Airport are forecasting their busiest Bank Holiday Easter weekend ever, as growing numbers of passengers look to make the most of the Airport’s many low cost flights and get away for a holiday break.
Almost 40,000 passengers are expected to pass through Liverpool Airport over the Bank Holiday weekend.
This represents an increase of nearly 15%, compared to Easter 2004. The increase in passenger numbers follows the additional flights which are now operating from Liverpool to destinations such as Rome, Berlin, Milan, Warsaw, Cologne, Cardiff, Knock, Dublin and Aberdeen.
On Easter Sunday, Flybe added further routes to their Liverpool network, with the commencement of up to 3 daily flights to Glasgow and daily flights to Edinburgh, which will see the total number of flight departures from Liverpool increase to around 60 per day.
Just last month, the CAA issued a report showing that Liverpool John Lennon Airport is now the third largest regional airport in the UK for international scheduled passengers, putting the northwests second hub above such facilities as Glasgow International and Edinburgh. The only airports outside London which handle more international flights than Liverpool are Manchester and Birmingham.
The addition of these new destinations, and many more due to start over the coming weeks are set to maintain the airport’s status as one of the country’s fastest growing airports.
