Considering the difficulties in accessing Bristol airport by road, some fans might want to consider taking flights from Newcastle to Exeter with Flybe:

Allow around £15 for a taxi from Exeter Airport to Exeter St David's station. A bus does run hourly to Exeter Bus Station, but you would still then need to allow 15 minutes walk to get to St Davids. Trains between Exeter and Cardiff take just over 2 hours, usually with a change at Bristol Parkway.

This might sound like a good idea, as Flybe are unlikely to have the same demand for their flights as Easyjet will to and from Bristol. However, the real limiting factor here is Flybe's schedule.
