With just 2 weeks to go until the opening, Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield has today announced its latest new destination; Egypt. The weekly direct flights to Sharm El Sheikh will depart Robin Hood Airport on Sundays, commencing November 2005. The five hour flight makes Sharm el Sheikh the airport’s furthest destination.

The service to the Red Sea Riviera will be operated by Thomson, with prices starting from just £315 per person for a seven nights stay at the Hotel Cleopatra in Sharm El Sheikh based on two adults sharing a room on a bed and breakfast basis.

The Red Sea Riviera has developed into a first-class luxury holiday destination and is a popular destination for British holidaymakers seeking sun, fabulous beaches, and crystal-clear seas. The resort is famous for its diving on the beautiful coral reef (dubbed one of the Seven Underwater Wonders of the World), and also offers other sports such as golf, water sports, tennis, quad biking, and both horse and camel riding.

Sharm El Sheikh is the perfect destination for holiday-makers in search of guaranteed year round sunshine.

Thomson holidays has more than doubled its Egypt programme for winter 2005/06, to account for the incredible recent uptake in demand that this destination has recently been subject to.
This announcement is a welcome addition to the airport’s existing winter programme. Egypt joins hot spots such as Tunisia, Cyprus & the Canary Islands, which can all be reached direct this Winter on flights from Robin Hood Airport.

David Ryall, Managing Director at Robin Hood Airport said:

"We are ready and waiting to open our doors for the first flights on 28 April 2005, and we predict this new flight to Egypt will become a firm favourite, and is more great news for the areas we serve, as we quickly become the regions’ airport of choice.”

Miles Morgan, Sales & Marketing Director for Thomson, said:

"We are delighted by how popular holidays from Robin Hood Airport have been already and we are confident that the new Sharm El Sheikh route will be a great addition to the programme. Egypt is one of Thomson’s most rapidly growing destinations at the moment and we are happy to be offering the people of Doncaster and Sheffield the chance to fly there from the convenience of their fantastic new local airport.”

Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield now boasts 27 direct destinations, across 16 countries, with the airport opening on 28 April 2005.
