The brand new Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield carried out its final dress rehearsal yesterday, prior to opening its terminal building to travelling passengers tomorrow (Thursday, 28th April).

Three hundred guests who were welcomed with a Champagne reception, included VIPs, dignitaries and many of the people involved with the project over the years since the submission of the planning application in 1999 to redevelop the former RAF Finningley.
As the first preview flight, a Thomsonfly.com Boeing 757, took off from the two mile long runway at the airport, with onlookers in the terminal building and around the site applauding, and the passengers, many of whom have worked within or supported the airport development, cheered as the aircraft took to the sky for a flight around the UK.
David Ryall, Managing Director of Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield said:
"We felt that this was the perfect opportunity to invite along a broad a cross section of the many people who have helped the development of Robin Hood Airport, to join us to celebrate what peel has achieved to date. Our focus is now very much upon ensuring that the airport and its staff are ready to receive passengers travelling on the first commercial flight to leave Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield on the 28th April".
Sharon Bennett, PR & Community Affairs Manager at Robin Hood Airport said:
"Today has been exciting for the airport management team, it has allowed us to experience the full process with real passengers. Most importantly however, it has given the company the opportunity to thank some of the many people who have supported the airport development and to show-case it to others by giving them a sneak preview of the terminal building".
