BMI have confirmed their plans to launch a three-times weekly service between London Heathrow and Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh on September 1.
Flights will operate from London every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. BMI will offer a three-class service on an Airbus A330 aircraft. Business class passengers will be able to experience top quality food prepared by BMI's unique in-flight chef.
BMI chief executive Nigel Turner said he was delighted the airline were expanding their long-haul network from Heathrow following the successful launch of their London to Mumbai (Bombay) service last month.
He said:
"The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Britain have close trading relationships, and we are delighted to be able to serve the travelling needs of Britons and Saudis."
BMI will be the only British carrier offering scheduled services to Saudi Arabia, following the withdrawal of British Airways flights to Riyadh and Jeddah earlier this year. The Saudi flag carrier Saudia continue to operate flights to Riyadh and Jeddah from London Heathrow, with other European and Middle Eastern airlines offering connections via their respective hubs.
