News: Reduction in flights to Shannon from the Midlands

Flights > News > # 538 (02/09/2005)

Flybe will end their Birmingham to Shannon flights this Sunday, with Thomsonfly also putting a stop to their flights from Coventry to Shannon at the end of October.

Midlanders will now only have a single choice of airline, with Ryanair operating daily flights from Nottingham East Midlands, a route which started in May this year. Passengers living to the South of Coventry and Birmingham might also consider Ryanair's flights to Shannon from London Luton, or even Bristol.

These latest cuts show how price sensitive the market for flights to Ireland can be. Whilst there is clearly demand for flights to Shannon from Central England, Ryanair's daily service from East Midlands appears to have fought off all of the competition
