News: Delta launch flights from Manchester to New York

Flights > News > # 578 (18/10/2005)

Delta airlines have announced plans to launch daily flights from Manchester to New York's Kennedy Airport (JFK), from May 2006. This new route, which is one of several transatlantic services announced by the airline this week, puts Delta in direct competition with British Airways and Continental, who already offer flights from Manchester to New York JFK and Newark airports respectively.

In addition to offering increased choice for passengers from the north-west who want to travel to the Big Apple, Delta are also aiming to offer more onward flights through their connecting services which depart from New York.

One aspect of Delta's reorganisation strategy, having entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this month, is to focus its services on more profitable routes, and this inevitably means that the airline has chosen to speed up its launch
