Zoom Airlines have announced an expansion to their direct Scotland to Canada flights following talks between The First Minister Jack McConnell and Hugh Boyle, chairman of the airline. Jack McConnell met Mr Boyle at Zoom’s headquarters in Ottawa and discussed air services between Glasgow and Canadian destinations. Following the talks, Mr Boyle announced Zoom is to add an additional service from Glasgow to Toronto for next summer, increasing the number of direct flights to Toronto to three per week.
Mr Boyle said:
“This new service demonstrates our commitment to provide year round low-cost scheduled and direct services from Glasgow to Canada. We are alone in providing this service but I was delighted to tell The First Minister that we have tremendous support from the public both in Canada and Scotland. It just goes to show how close the ties are between our two countries.”
In total Zoom operates eight direct flights to Canada per week from Glasgow. Zoom's five Glasgow destinations are Toronto, Halifax, Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa. Prices start at £69 one-way plus tax for flights to East Coast destinations and £119 one-way plus tax for flights to West Coast cities.
