News: New Edinburgh to Warsaw flights start

Centralwings touched down at Edinburgh Airport for the first time this afternoon (Monday 31 October), marking the start of their new direct flights from Edinburgh to Warsaw.
Poland’s fastest growing low-cost carrier will service the route three times a week as part of their winter 2005/06 schedule. Warsaw is a new destination for Scots business and leisure travellers and is a welcome addition to the exciting choice of cities now available direct from Scotland.
Welcoming the inaugural flight into Edinburgh was Richard Jeffrey, managing director, BAA Edinburgh Airport. He said:
“We are delighted to welcome Centralwings to Edinburgh. This new service is great news for Scotland’s capital city and its growing international route network. This new service will strengthen links between the two cities, boosting tourism and business opportunities. We look forward to supporting the airline’s efforts in the coming months and years.”
Councillor Donald Anderson, Leader of the City of Edinburgh Council said:
“ Record numbers are flying in and out of Edinburgh as the airport continues to grow and new routes, such as Warsaw and Atlanta, are developing all the time. Edinburgh has a historically strong link with Poland, including a partnership with Krakow, and the number of Polish people in Edinburgh has surged since the opening up of the EU last May (2004). I am sure this new route will open up many new business and leisure opportunities for people in the city."
These new flights to Warsaw will operate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday – departing from Warsaw at 11:00 a.m. and arriving into Edinburgh at 12:55 p.m. The return flight will then leave Edinburgh at 1:45 p.m, arriving into Warsaw at 5:20 p.m. local time.
