bmibaby has announced that it will base a fifth aircraft at Nottingham East Midlands Airport from March. The airline goes on sale tomorrow (Thursday 17th November) with its summer 2006 flying programme from the airport.
The additional aircraft will increase the total number of weekly flights to over 230, boosting capacity and enabling bmibaby to reintroduce twice daily flights to Paris (CDG).
The expansion reaffirms the airline's position as the largest carrier at the airport and the largest low cost carrier in the Midlands region. The airline's cheap flights to Paris (CDG) will operate twice daily Sundays to Fridays, with a daily service on Saturdays. A total of eleven routes will be offered for the summer, Alicante, Amsterdam, Belfast (Intl), Edinburgh, Glasgow, Jersey, Malaga, Palma and Prague.
A weekly service to Faro will also feature in bmibaby's portfolio of destinations.
David Bryon, bmibaby's managing director, commented:
"I am delighted to be able to announce a fifth based aircraft at Nottingham East Midlands for the forthcoming summer season. Over the winter we will take delivery of three more aircraft bringing our total fleet to 19, five of which will be based here in the East Midlands. The additional aircraft will begin flying in March to coincide with our summer 2006 programme and we are pleased that it is enabling us to provide the only low cost flights from the midlands to Paris, offering almost 2,000 seats every week. As the sole operator on a number of business routes, we are also concentrating on increasing the frequency of flights to Belfast, Edinburgh and Glasgow to meet demand."
