Air Berlin have announced a new route for 2006, London to Alicante. Earlier this month, the airline announced it was adding domestic UK routes to its schedule and expanding the number of international flights from the airport.
Flights will commence in May 2006 in time for the busy summer holiday season. The launch of flights to Alicante marks the airline's second Spanish destination to be served from London Stansted. The airline already operates flights to Palma from Stansted, with a high quality service offering which is proving increasingly popular amongst regular travellers between the UK and Spain.
Speaking at the World Travel Market, Air Berlin Euro Shuttle Manager Marc Heinicke, said:
“Alicante is a very popular destination – not just for holiday makers – but for the thousands of Brits who have holiday homes in Spain. Air Berlin is the only choice for those who wish to start their holiday early enjoying great service and comfort the minute they get on the plane.”
In 2004 Air Berlin carried over 12 million passengers, making Air Berlin Germany's second-largest airline, Europe's third-largest low-cost carrier, and through its operations in its Majorca hub, Spain's third-largest airline.
