Irish regional airline Aer Arann has announced that it will begin operating new flights from Kerry to Lorient in South Brittany, France on 27th March 2006. The service will operate two days per week on Monday and Friday and will be operated by an ATR72 aircraft. The flight will depart Lorient at 11.00 am and Kerry at 1.10 pm. This is Aer Arann’s third service from Kerry Airport. The airline currently operates over 62 flights per week to and from Kerry on the Dublin and Manchester routes.
Commenting on the announcement Micheal O’Callarain, Marketing Manager Aer Arann said
“We have been exploring various options for additional routes from Kerry for some time now and we believe this new link to Lorient opens up a range of new options for leisure passengers in the region. Brittany is the second biggest French destination for Irish passengers after Paris and Lorient is very well located as a touring base for this area."
Aer Arran already operate flights to Lorient from Kerry, Waterford and Cork, and have also announced flights from London Luton to Lorient.
