News: Ryanair add new sunshine flights from Liverpool

Low cost airline Ryanair today announced they would be adding two new destinations from Liverpool for early next year.
Commencing in February 2006, the airline will add new flights to Porto in Portugal and Seville in Spain, bringing their total number of destinations from Liverpool to 20.
Ryanair now have five aircraft based at Liverpool, and just over a year after announcing that Liverpool John Lennon Airport would become one of their key European bases, the airline has already commenced services to 15 destinations in 6 countries.
Some 706,442 additional passengers have travelled through Liverpool John Lennon Airport on Ryanair's cheap flights since the airline commenced their based operations in January. This has been a major contribution to the Airport's 40% increase in passenger numbers in November compared to the same period last year.. The Airport currently expects to carry some 4.4 million passengers in total by the end of the year - over 1 million passengers more than in 2004, with most of this growth due to Ryanair's expansion.
Porto is the first scheduled destination in Portugal to be served by flights from Liverpool John Lennon Airport. Meanwhile, Seville is Ryanair's 5th destination in Southern Spain. Flights to Porto are due to operate three times per week and flights to Seville four times per week, with both commencing on 22 February 2006.

"This is a nice early Christmas present for Liverpool from Ryanair and links us with two more important European cities. I'm particularly pleased that the Airport will soon have flights to and from Portugal for the first time bringing the number of different countries served from the Airport to 10. Ryanair forecast these routes will also prove popular with inbound visitors which will further boost the region's tourism industry ahead of Capital of Culture in 2008."
