Flybe have announced their intention to restart flights between their South Coast hub of Southampton and the Normandy port town of Cherbourg . The flights will operate three days per week from 24 th May 2006. Flybe announced this route for their summer 2005 schedule, with managing director Jim French also suggesting that the airline would be interested in offering cheap flights from Norwich to Cherbourg. The route was withdrawn before it had a chance to get going.

Ian Taylor, general manager of market development for Flybe said:

“We make it our business to listen to and respond to customer demands; the introduction of the route from Southampton to Cherbourg is a prime example of that. Flybe is offering convenient flight timings and with only a 40 minute hop across the Channel, the increasing popularity of the region with holiday makers and second home owners means we have every confidence the route will be another success on our fast growing network of cheap flights to France.”
