Flybe have announced that their passenger numbers increased by 16 per cent in January over the same period last year.
Manchester Airport saw the largest growth, with the opening of new routes leading to a 106% increase. Leeds Bradford, Exeter and Birmingham all saw passenger numbers rise above the monthly average.
Mike Rutter, Flybe Chief Commercial Officer, said:
“Our focus on improving operational efficiency through innovation and forward thinking is providing real benefits to our passengers. Our fair deal for baggage came into operation on the 1st of February which allows us to manage our baggage handling costs and at the same time reduce fares for passengers who are not checking-in bags. We have led the industry with this initiative and will continue to look at ways of driving down costs and providing customers with the service that they want.”
Flybe operate budget flights from an increasing number of UK regional airports, with their busiest operations being at Birmingham International, Southampton and Belfast City airports. Flybe are also the first airline to start charging customers for checked bags.
