Ryanair have refuted a series of allegations made against them in a recent television documentary. Channel 4’s Dispatches programme, which was aired on February 14th, claimed to uncover a host of safety and security breaches on the Irish airline’s flights. Despite undercover reporters filming for over five months, Ryanair said the programme only produced isolated examples of minor breaches of the airline’s own policies and procedures by their cabin crew. Ryanair also accused the Dispatches team of faking a scene in which Ryanair cabin crew appear to be sleeping on the job.
“It was not even filmed on a Ryanair aircraft”, a Ryanair spokesman said.
The airline’s chief executive, Michael O’Leary, also accused the filmmakers of turning down Ryanair’s offers of an interview, adding: “Their refusal to run Ryanair’s statement without editing it makes it clear that it is the Dispatches programme that had something to hide, not Ryanair. As always Ryanair will let the travelling public decide.”

Comment:
Ryanair are easy fodder for lazy journalists, but Channel 4’s “exposé” of the Irish airline on their Dispatches programme (aired on February 13th) showed very little about the company which would cause us concern here at Flig
