News: Flybe start Leeds to Southampton flights

Flybe aim to attract many more passengers onto their cheap flights between Leeds and Southampton, by offering much lower fares than their rival Eastern, together with a twice daily frequency. |
Flybe has launched twice-daily flights from Southampton to Leeds Bradford. Following the success of the route since it launched in May 2005, Flybe is increasing its operations to its northern base and has secured key slots during the day to appeal directly to business travellers. Commuters can now travel directly between the regions in just 65 minutes, dramatically cutting lengthy rail and road times.
Flybe’s chief commercial officer, Mike Rutter, said:
“We’ve been hugely impressed with the success of this route and it’s clear that commuters are switching from more outdated forms of business travel and embracing the ease and cost effectiveness low cost air travel offers.” He continues:
“We’re seeing continued demand from Southampton business travellers for convenient, domestic travel and with traditional legacy carriers continuing to charge premium prices Flybe are pleased to offer passengers a first rate service at our usual great value fares.”
