News has emerged that thousands of bags went astray at Heathrow in the days following the introduction of new security measures at UK airports.
It has been reported in the print media that up to 20,000 pieces of baggage, mostly belonging to British Airways passengers, were misplaced at the airport, although most items have now been reunited with their owners. BA have also been forced to cancel over 1,100 flights during the security crisis, including 46 today from Heathrow and Gatwick. A further 19 short-haul flights from Heathrow will be grounded tomorrow. A BA spokesman said the airline expect their schedule to be running as normal by Friday.
