A flight from London to Washington had to be diverted to Boston on Wednesday because of a disturbance onboard.
A 59-year-old Vermont woman on a United flight from Heathrow reportedly became “hysterical” after flight crew discovered she had been carrying two banned items, a tub of vaseline and a box of matches. The plane, which was carrying 182 passengers and 12 crew members, was escorted to Boston's Logan International Airport by fighter jets.
All the passengers then had to be taken off the plane and have their luggage checked. The incident came almost a week after security was stepped up at UK airports following the discovery of an alleged plot by terrorists to blow up as many as ten planes heading from the UK to the USA.
