Flyglobespan are launching daily flights to Boston from Glasgow International next May. The Boston service will be the second transatlantic route offered from Glasgow by the fast-growing Scottish airline, following on from the launch of flights to Orlando Sanford in Florida earlier this year.
Flyglobespan chairman, Tom Dalrymple, said the airline’s prices would compare favourably with competitors offering Boston flights from elsewhere in the UK, adding: “Boston is a very exciting destination. The city itself is very popular with tourists it is is also the gateway to New England and some of the most beautiful scenery in North America.
“It is also a very busy hub airport with onwards flights to all parts of the USA. This route will give Scots the ideal gateway to an American trip,” Mr Dalrymple said.

Comment:
Flyglobespan's chairman, Tom Dalrymple, has stated an interest in finding codeshare partners to operate onward connections (or feeder flights in reverse) from Boston. An airline such as Jet Blue, which has significantly expanded at Boston in recent years, might be an ideal partner for such a venture.
The geographical location of Boston makes this route a really promising business proposition. Boston, which is just 5 1/2 hours flight time from Glasgow, is within range of the next-generation Boeing 737-800 series used by Globespan and favoured by other no-frills airlines such as Ryanair. Ryanair have previously given off mixed messages about launching long-haul flights, but if they smell profit on this route, then Boston's relative proximity to Europe, and its strong Irish connections, might make it something for them to look at.
