Ryanair have dismissed rumours that they were planning to start operating cheap flights to the United States.

With Scottish budget airline Flyglobespan continuing their expansion into the US market, some industry experts have suggested that Ryanair and other no-frills carriers could launch transatlantic flights.

Speaking to Flightmapping.com on Friday, Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary said: “Somebody might want to do it, but not us - yes, there might be some cost savings for consumers, they are just nothing like as substantial as they are within Europe.”

Mr O’Leary also said the US would be out of range for their Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
