A new long-haul budget airline is launching flights from London to Hong Kong for as little as £75 plus taxes.
Oasis Hong Kong Airlines plan to run four flights a week between London Gatwick and Hong Kong from October 26, increasing to a daily service from the end of November. The cheapest return economy class tickets including all taxes and charges will cost £261, with a business class option available from £1071.
The Hong Kong-based company will use Boeing 747 aircraft, and promise the in-flight experience will comparable to other airlines on the Hong Kong – London route.
Oasis Hong Kong’s chief executive, Steve Miller, said: “Increased competition amongst no-frills budget airlines flying within Europe indicates a gap in the UK market to low-fare, long-haul travel. There is a very strong demand from consumers seeking to travel to destinations such as Hong Kong, and many of these travellers are currently being forced to take indirect services flying one or more stops to get to their destinations.
The airline also has ambitious plans to launch flights from Hong Kong to more European and US cities in the future, including Berlin, Cologne, Milan, Oakland and Chicago.
