News: New Amsterdam flights launched from Southampton

Flights > News > # 969 (12/09/2006)

Flybe’s service between Southampton and Amsterdam has taken off.

Demand for the twice daily flights has been so high that Flybe will be adding a third flight next month. BMI were also due to launch flights on the Southampton to Amsterdam route this winter, but pulled out due to unspecified “commercial reasons”. Flybe will face competition from Scot Airways, who are generally more expensive, but offer a higher frequency (four daily flights during the week). Flybe’s chief commercial officer, Mike Rutter, said the response to the Amsterdam route has been exceptional, adding: “We’re proud to continue delivering on our promise to bring travel choice and value to the region.”
