News: Easyjet give in-flight mobile phones a frosty reception

Easyjet has said it has no plans introduce new technology to allow passengers to use their mobile phones during flights.
The budget airline’s chief rival, Ryanair, has said it will roll out the mobile technology from early next year, but Easyjet chief executive, Andrew Harrison, said there should be no assumption that they will follow suit.
Harrison said: “In-flight mobile phone use is anything but a done deal. We have to consider how many of our passengers really want to be sitting next to someone who's yakking into their phone.” He added: “We have also looked at the cost of in-flight mobile phone usage, and it will actually be quite expensive to set up the equipment. We are not convinced that the revenue projections are particularly promising either.”
