Aberdeen is to have cheap flights to seven of Europe’s most popular holiday destinations next year as Flyglobespan launches a major summer programme from its newest Scottish base.
The Scottish budget airline is to offer three flights a week to Palma (Majorca), twice weekly services to Faro (Algarve), Alicante, Barcelona and Murcia, and weekly flights to Cyprus from the end of April. Flyglobespan’s weekly year-round Tenerife service takes off this winter from Aberdeen.
Flyglobespan chairman, Tom Dalrymple, said: “For the first time ever, the region will be able to enjoy scheduled flights to Europe’s most popular resorts – at highly competitive prices. I am very pleased that many of these airports will have more than one flight a week. This gives the holidaymaker much more flexibility – and I am sure it will be appreciated.”
Runway length and Aberdeen’s geographical location have proved a stumbling block to route development in the past, but Flyglobespan use Boeing 737-700 aircraft capable of reaching all of Europe’s top resorts from the Granite City.
