News: Jet2 add flights to Toulouse from Leeds Bradford

Jet2 will launch new flights from Leeds Bradford to southwest France next summer.
The budget airline will offer a weekly service to Toulouse from May 14.
Leeds Bradford airport’s marketing chief, Sam Wynzar, said: “Not only is Toulouse a perfect gateway to the southwest region of France but it’s also a fantastic city to visit in itself for a short break.
“We are delighted that Jet2.com have added this new service and it complements the extensive range of destinations now available for our customers.”

The last couple of weeks have seen Jet2 launch cheap flights to Toulouse from Manchester and Belfast, with this latest announcement providing a link between the Rose City and Jet2's original Leeds Bradford base.
Has there ever been a particularly substantial market for flights to Toulouse from any of these cities? In the case of Manchester, we certainly would have thought so because of the strong business links between the two cities in addition to all the obvious leisure opportunities, but the addition of flights to Toulouse from Belfast and Leeds suggests to us that Jet2 have been given a particularly attractive incentive to open up more routes into Blagnac airport.
Whereas some other regionally focused no-frills airlines have been much more conservative in their route selections, it is a massive credit to Jet2 that they have decided to open up so many routes to Toulouse. It is a city which has a great deal to offer, but which would probably not appear at the top of most people's destination wish lists. With Jet2 already having established a good range of links into Nice and Chambery, we wonder which other French destinations they might be looking at for future route development. With the current trend for airports attracting airlines with favourable charges set to continue over the lure of a particular destination, we would not be surprised to see the new budget terminals at Marseille or Lyon featuring on Jet2's radar screens.
