Flights > News > # 1097 (30/11/2006)
Britain’s first seaplane airline has been cleared for take off.
Plans to fly passengers from the River Clyde in central Glasgow to the Scottish Highlands and islands have been given the go ahead by the Civil Aviation Authority and the Clyde Port Authority. It will be the only seaplane service in Europe to operate from a city centre.
Loch Lomond Seaplanes will start passenger services from a new terminal near the Glasgow Science Centre to destinations in Argyll and Bute next spring.
The company, which has offered charters, trips, business and lunch excursions for the past three years, is also considering extending the service to the Isle of Skye.
