The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has stepped in to protect customers booked with HCCT (Holidays) Ltd after the company ceased trading today.
The Sale-based firm, who also traded as 'CT2' and 'LOCO Flights', principally operated flights to the Canary Islands.
The operator’s £7 million bond has been called in by the CAA to make sure 1,000 holidaymakers abroad can get home and refund almost 40,000 customers with forward bookings.
Most sales were made through travel agents, with flights departing from Manchester, Leeds-Bradford and other airports in the Midlands and northern England.
