Daily flights from Aberdeen to Kristiansand in Norway, and Edinburgh to Zurich will take off on March 26.

Extra flights will also be added between Edinburgh and Manchester, and a new early morning flight will operate between the Scottish capital and Leeds Bradford.

Edinburgh airport’s managing director, Richard Jeffrey, said: “This is excellent news from BMI. This brand new scheduled service to Zurich will be BMI’s third international route from Edinburgh and really underlines the airline’s commitment to its operation here.

The new daily service from Aberdeen to Kristiansand brings to eight the number of Scandinavian routes served from northeast Scotland.

Kevin Brown, customer services director at Aberdeen Airport, said: “Norway is one of our most popular destinations, attracting over 100,000 passengers a year from Aberdeen. This new route offers potential for further growth and underlines Aberdeen’s status as Scotland’s gateway to Scandinavia.”
