Ryanair took one million bookings in the first week of its flights giveaway.
The ‘buy one, get one free’ offer was launched on January 5 in protest over Chancellor Gordon Brown’s decision to double Air Passenger Duty. It is the first time a European airline has sold more than a million seats in a week.
Ryanair’s UK sales manager, Caroline Baldwin, said: “This is the first time Ryanair has taken more than one million bookings in a week and sets us well on our way to carrying more than fifty million passengers over the coming year.”
The no-frills giant’s seat sale continues until midnight on Thursday (January 18).
