The number of flights between London Gatwick and the Azores is being doubled this summer.
SATA International is to add a second weekly direct flight between May 5 and September 29.
The summer service will run on Saturdays, adding to the regular Tuesday departure from Gatwick which will run from April 3 to October 30. The airline is using an Airbus A320-200 with 12 business class seats and 149 economy seats.
A SATA spokesman said: “Our previous service encouraged one and two-week trips. Now we can also offer three and four night short breaks, as well as ten and 11 nights, and longer durations.
“We have a shorter flying time than many of the Greek Islands, and our climate is good all year round. We also don't suffer from the extreme temperatures that the Mediterranean islands experience during the peak summer months.”
