Easylet’s Scottish network is to be increased with a new route between Edinburgh and Dortmund.
The no-frills airline will operate four flights a week from Edinburgh to Dortmund from May 30.
The new Dortmund flights are the result of investment from the Scottish Executive’s Route Development Fund, which supports new direct air links bringing economic benefits to Scotland. Easyjet will also gain marketing support from Visit Scotland to help promote Scotland as a destination in Germany.
The airline expects to carry more than 55,000 passengers on the route in the first 12 months, which means it will carry almost 2.5 million passengers from Edinburgh this year.
Easyjet’s UK general manager, David Osborne, said: “The Dortmund service is the fifth new route to be announced in the last four months and proves Easyjet's commitment to its Edinburgh base.”
