Ryanair will launch the first scheduled flights from the UK to Maribor in Slovenia this summer.
The no-frills giant will operate three flights a week from London Stansted to Maribor from June 5.
Maribor is the second largest city in Slovenia, and is a great base for exploring the nearby Pohorje mountains. Ryanair marketing chief, Sinead Finn, said: “The area is full of vineyards, beautiful walking and cycling paths and is famous for its farmhouse home cooking. During the winter the city is an ideal gateway Slovenia’s best skiing centres.
Other alternatives for reaching this part of the world include flying to the Slovenian capital Ljubljana from London (Adria Airlines from Gatwick, Easyjet from Stansted and Wizzair from Luton) or Manchester (Adria Airlines). The express train between Ljubljana and Maribor takes just under two hours. Ryanair also operate daily flights from Stansted to Graz in Austria, which is 45 miles north of Maribor.
