News: New Ahmedabad flights from London

Jet Airways is launching flights between London Heathrow and the Indian city of Ahmedabad this spring.
The new service to the Gujarati state capital takes off on April 3 and will initially fly twice a week, on Tuesdays and Sundays from Heathrow, but will increase to three flights per week from May with an additional flight on Saturdays.
Jet Airways currently flies from Heathrow to Delhi once a day, to Mumbai twice a day and to Amritsar six times per week.
Jet Airways chief executive, Wolfang Prock-Schauer, said: “We are pleased to link Ahmedabad, with London Heathrow, as part of our expansion plans, to tap the enormous potential of Gujarat, which of late has seen a an enhanced and steady inflow of investments. We are proud to be associated with the development of Gujarat and to offer our premier service by providing a new international route from Ahmedabad.”
Jet Airways will face competition on Ahmedabad flights from Air India. The Indian national airline currently operates three flights a week (Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays) between Heathrow and Ahmedabad.
