Zoom is starting flights from London to New York this summer.
The service takes off on June 21, with five flights a week from Gatwick to JFK, two of which will go via Bermuda.
Zoom has been operating from UK regional airports to numerous Canadian destinations for three years. Return fares start at £262 return, and the airline also offers flexible one-way tickets from £129.

Comment:
As Public Enemy once said, “Don’t believe the hype.” The headline grabbing one-way fare of £129 certainly sounds good, but unless you have the right papers, you are going to need a ticket home, otherwise the immigration officials will send you packing. Therefore, the one-way price is actually irrelevant.
Looking at sample dates of leaving Gatwick on June 21 and returning on June 25, the Zoom fare of £262 is certainly cheaper than the opposition (Delta and Continental), but not by much. A return ticket to JFK with Delta can be bought for £284, Continental to Newark is only a tenner more. Even if price is your first priority, we would still recommend taking the Delta or Continental option. Why? Because both of these airlines offer more frequency, which not only gives customers more choice, but also means there is back up if they have any problems with their aircraft. Zoom are hardly class leaders when it comes to reliability, and only offer five flights a week to New York, compared to Continental’s four a day and Delta’s daily service.
We would also strongly advise against booking on one of Zoom’s New York flights via Bermuda – the journey time is a whopping two and half hours longer than the normal service!
