Emirates has ordered a further four Airbus A380 superjumbos, despite lengthy production delays to the project.
The Dubai-based airline is the biggest single customer for the A380. It has now ordered 47 of the giant double-decker aircraft and is due to take delivery of its first A380 early next year. The A380 can carry 555 passengers in a three-class configuration or up to 853 passengers in a single-class economy configuration.
Assembly problems with the Airbus jet have led to heavy losses for the European aircraft manufacturer. Airbus, which is owned by Franco-German defence giant EADS, recently announced 10,000 job cuts across Europe as part of a major restructuring drive.
