City of Derry airport has reopened to all flights after regulatory officials approved new safety measures.
The airport was closed on Thursday (May 24) night after officials from the Civil Aviation Authority identified problems such as poor runway drainage and the lack of an effective plan to deal with flocks of birds that might interfere with take-off and landings.
British Airways flights will begin flying there again from today (May 29) whilst Ryanair will resume flights tomorrow.
City of Derry Airport Manager Seamus Devine, who had defended the airport's safety record, said today that it was now completely safe.
