Virgin Atlantic’s new Nairobi service from London has taken off.
The daily flights between London Heathrow and Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta airport mark Virgin Atlantic’s first foray into the burgeoning Kenyan market.
Flights from Heathrow will leave at 7.15pm and arrive in Nairobi the following day at 6.05am (local time). Return flights will leave Nairobi at 8.15am (local time) and arrive in London at 2.50pm.
Virgin Atlantic will go head to head with British Airways (daily, two flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) and Kenya Airways (daily, two flights on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) on the Nairobi route.
Virgin Atlantic boss, Sir Richard Branson, said: “I am really pleased that Virgin Atlantic is now serving Nairobi, the airline’s fourth African destination which is not only an important city in its own right, but also the gateway for the whole of East Africa and the Indian Ocean.
“Kenya is a wonderful country with much to offer visitors from the busy, vibrant capital city of Nairobi to the wealth of almost unbeatable game reserves and wildlife and world famous beach resorts like Mombasa.”
