Virgin Atlantic is set to become the third airline offering flights from London Heathrow to Mauritius.
Virgin will be launching a twice weekly service to the Indian Ocean island from October 28.
British Airways currently operate three flights a week between Heathrow and Mauritius, with Air Mauritius offering six flights a week.
Virgin’s flights from Heathrow will leave on Fridays at 8pm and Sundays at 5.05pm, arriving in Mauritius at noon the following day and 9.05am respectively. Return flights from Mauritius leave on Saturdays at 2pm and Mondays at 12.50pm, arriving into Heathrow the same day at 10.25pm and 9.15pm respectively.
Virgin’s Middle East and Indian Ocean regional manager, Andrew Fyfe, said: "I am really excited that Virgin Atlantic is to serve this beautiful island, our first entry into the Indian Ocean. The launch of these services will lead to increased competition, better value for money and quality of service. This new route shows that we are continuing to build a long-haul network with the ideal mix of business and leisure routes for today's traveller."
