Easyjet is set to unveil radical new environmental measures tomorrow (June 14) which could see the airline reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 50 per cent by 2015.
The aviation industry has faced an unprecedented onslaught from the green lobby in recent months, but it looks like the fight back has started. Last week regional specialist Flybe became the first airline in the world to introduce an eco-labelling scheme, and tomorrow will give Easyjet the chance to show its hand. The no-frills airline’s chief executive, Andy Harrison, has called a special press conference to announce what he is calling "an important environmental milestone for aviation".
Harrison will later give the keynote address at the Low Cost Airline Summit in London. His speech is entitled 'In defence of the low cost carrier – responding to environmental concerns'.
