News: BA free to operate flights to US from any EU airport

British Airways has been given the green light by the US department of transportation to operate flights to the country from anywhere in the EU.
The flights will be able to take place from March next year, when the Open Skies agreement comes into full force.
BA will take advantage of the new ruling to exploit the rapidly growing demand for business class-only transatlantic flights. With the London to New York market already sewn up by Silverjet, EOS and Maxjet, BA is instead planning to focus on other major European finance hubs such as Frankfurt, Milan and Paris.
BA chief executive, Willie Walsh, said: "We are looking extremely seriously at the launch of new services from the US to major business centres in continental Europe."
