News: Ryanair takes advertising to a new level

Ryanair has become the first airline in the world to use its overhead baggage compartments for adverts.
The luggage lockers on all Ryanair planes flying from the UK will be plastered with Red Bull adverts throughout July. The energy drink maker is set to be the first of many big name companies keen to spread ‘brand awareness’ to Ryanair’s massive customer base.
Ryanair’s European marketing chief, Sinead Finn, said passengers will benefit because advertising revenues will help to reduce fares.
Other no-frills airlines will be quick to copy the Ryanair model if it is a success, and with £70 million spent annually on airport advertising alone, it is easy to see why.
