News: Axe falls on BMI flights to Amsterdam from Aberdeen

Flights > News > # 1418 (10/08/2007)

BMI is scrapping its flights from Aberdeen to Amsterdam at the end of August.
BMI currently operates twice daily flights to Amsterdam during the week and one flight on Sundays, but the service will stop on August 31.
The news is a further blow to Aberdeen airport, which has seen six services axed in just over a month.
A spokesman for BMI said the airline was still committed to Aberdeen, adding: "Individual routes may be up or down, routes might be introduced or cancelled but overall our performance at Aberdeen continues to be double-digit growth and we continue to look at opportunities to develop new routes."
The firm plans to increase its service from Aberdeen to Manchester to seven return flights a day at the start of September.
Passengers will still be able to fly direct from Aberdeen to Amsterdam with Dutch national airline KLM.
